Community Reinvestment Act
At Investar Bank, we understand and support the credit needs of businesses, non-profits, and individuals in the vital communities we serve. Our ongoing commitment is to champion the needs of local businesses, institutions, and individuals – including those in low- and moderate-income areas- by helping them to successfully grow and prosper.
Under the Federal Community Reinvestment Act (CRA), the Office of the Comptroller of Currency (OCC) evaluates our record of helping meet the credit needs of the communities to ensure consistency with safe and sound operations.
For Investar, it is essential to be involved. We take a multifaceted and multi-channel approach to reach our communities and provide:
Small Business Lending and Support
- Our knowledgeable lenders are available to help small business owners through the application process.
- Employees can volunteer to offer financial advice to small businesses, particularly those in LMI areas. By sharing their unique job knowledge and financial expertise in areas such as financial planning, lending, marketing, and operations, volunteers can help these businesses grow and thrive.
- Our Business Development Officers are available to small business owners to help assess their needs and offer counseling and information on bank products that help serve their business needs.
Volunteerism in the Community
- Investar promotes and supports team members to volunteer their time serving our communities. We offer VTO (Volunteer Time Off) for employees to enhance the volunteer efforts in our markets. The policy allows employees to take time off during the workday to serve CRA qualifying programs.
- Food Banks
- Meals on Wheels
- Habitat for Humanity
- Leading in-person financial literature and scam awareness programs
Board Service
- Employees can serve on the board for local non-profits and receive CRA service hour credits for the service. The non-profit must be related to affordable housing, community service, economic development, revitalization or stabilization in a LMI community.
Fundraising Events
- Nonprofits are important partners for banks because they understand the local community needs. Employees can propose to their market president fundraising events in their local community that benefit LMI communities.
Donations and Sponsorships
- Investar donates tens of thousands of dollars annually to local charities and sponsors programming for non-profit organizations like Big Brothers, Big Sisters, senior centers, and food pantries.
Food and Clothing Drives
- Investar sponsors food drives and clothing drives several times a year for local food banks in our communities.
Investar Grill Teams
- Our Wichita Falls and Wise County markets have mobile grills they take to community events and non-profit organizations to help feed people in our communities.
